Franjic missing again, Rogic and Kennedy rested from training

FFA officials insist that Ivan Franjic will be considered for Australia's final warm-up game against Croatia on June 6, despite the fact that he missed training at the team's Vitoria base, for the second day running.

The full-back was injured in the match against South Africa in Sydney on Monday night when he collided with team-mate Alex Wilkinson.

Franjic, who was continuing his rehabilitation at the team hotel, was not the only absentee from the session at Australia's training ground, Arena Unimed Sicoob, the home of local club Desportivo Ferroviaria.

Josh Kennedy, who has had back issues for years, was left to rest in the hotel, as was the injury-prone Tom Rogic, who has barely played for months because of a groin injury. FFA sources said that both men were being given a rest day as part of a managed recovery program.

Mark Bresciano (back) and Mile Jedinak (groin) rejoined the main group for at least some of the session, having trained along on a light exercise program on Friday.

But Mitch Langerak, who returned to action on Friday, came through his first session well, sources said.

The Socceroos players all expressed their satisfaction with the training venue and the conditions in Vitoria, the capital of Espirito Santo state.

The players certainly have made an early impression with the locals. At Saturday's FIFA-mandated open training session, some 3000 local fans turned up to watch Ange Postecoglou put his players through their paces.

Australia's first "match" is against Curitiba-based club side Parana Clube, of the Brazilian national second division. It will take place on June 2 at the Socceroos training venue at 1pm local time.

Parana has competed at a high level in the past, playing in South America's equivalent of the Champions League, the Copa Libertadores, in 2007, reaching the round of 16 before being eliminated by a Paraguayan opponent.
